Is there anyway to temporarily real disabled the category?

Hi all,

may I know is there any way to disable a category temporarily?

What I mean is not just hide it on the site, but really disable the grouping.

As I want to link the category ID to price rule and promotion label, I am wondering if the category is "real" disable, the rule and label will be disabled simultaneously.
Or is there any alternatives to solve the problem?
