Magento 2.1.3 Order confirmation email no longer sending automatically

The order and invoice emails have all of a sudden stopped sending automatically, they can still be sent manually by clicking on 'send email' there seems to be no issue on the email server, is there a way to fix this?

There are a few things to check: 

  • Make sure your Mail server is not offline
  • Check that there is no failed email queue on your server (If there is then it will tell you te reason)
  • Check that your server IP is not blacklisted
