Magento 2 transactional email - custom design

Hello everyone,

I'm quite new on Magento and my designer wants to customize our transactional emails. 

I understand we can set a custom logo, and even do a few things about the footer & the header. But we would like a fully customized design (from scratch) for these emails.

Can we just design and developp these, including the appropriate variables? 

I did look on devdocs.magento.com but I couldn't find the information...

Yes you can design from scratch that the beauty of using magento for this there are two way:

1. You can create email template and  design according to your need from admin(Easiest way) 
2. You can create custom email template according to your module and inside of it.
