Product quantity +1 after closing PayPal window

Product quantity +1 after closing PayPal window

There are too many steps to my checkout process, but I've discovered a series of steps that result in +1 quantity being added to the cart when "aborting" an order. This could be quite surprising to a customer who changes there mind during the checkout process, who wants to go back and maybe add another product, but when they go to checkout again, find the total is more than they expect. This happens also if the customer goes back to add a different product and repeats the process - the second product gets a +1, but the original product, which is now +2, remains +2. Here are the steps you can repeat on my site:

1. https://www.blueplanetphoto.com/store/

2. Click on Classes

3. Click on first product image (Before You Buy)

4. On product page https://www.blueplanetphoto.com/store/before-you-buy.html  select option "On Request" radio button under Date

5. Add to Cart. Cart icon in upper right shows qty 1

6. While on product page, click on PayPal Buy Now button

7. When Pay With PayPal window loads, close the window with X at upper right (don't accept cookies)

8. After window closes, the product page reloads to https://www.blueplanetphoto.com/store/checkout/cart/ and quantity on both the checkout/cart/ page and the cart icon is now 2 and the total amount reflects that added product.

messages at the top of the page read:

Express Checkout has been cancelled

You added Before You Buy to your shopping cart

9. If you go back to the Classes page via the top navigation, select another product (Basic Camera Operation, for example) and repeat the select option>add to cart>PayPal Now>close window, you will return to the /store/checkout/cart/ page with the second product now with qty 2. The first product quantity remains at 2, there is no additional +1 (to qty 3).

I've tried other variations of this process and this, so far, is the only set of steps that produces a +1 qty addition when returning to the product page/cart. However, I've discovered another set of steps in which the PayPal button does nothing until the cart icon is selected and the process repeated. I'll put that in a second post.

Re: Product quantity +1 after closing PayPal window

I've removed PayPal Express from the product details page. That appears to be the solution, for me at least. However, the issue still remains if anyone decides to have PayPal on the product details page, I suppose.

Thanks for the information
