We are using Magento 2.3.4 and setting Asynchronous sending to Disable worked for us to send order confirmation email, but now from admin we cannot send shipment information...

glad to know you were able to resolve this issue. 

Can you please elaborate how did you do in payment gateways and finally got to know the solution. I have the same issue and is trying hard to find a solution, 

customers being able to receive emails if the payment is processed via PayPal but not receiving emails if the order is placed via card payment.
