Translate Inline produces ugly red boxes around lot of blocks

Deployed Magento 2.0.0 and 2.0.4 and problem persists:

 

Deployed sample store and sample data, enabled core_config_data > path:dev_translate_inline* then ran some redeployment steps:

php bin/magento setup:upgrade
php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy en_AU en_US
php bin/magento setup:di:compile-multi-tenant
php bin/magento cache:clean
php bin/magento cache:flush

 

And many blocks are surrounded by ugly red boxes. See:

The inline translation is a temporary mode: when you have finished the translation you should switch the option back to the «No» value.
