Best Placement for Product Pages Header or Footer?

Best Placement for Product Pages Header or Footer?

Hi Magento Community,

I run a custom printing and packaging website (Packaging Mart) and I’m currently working on optimizing my website’s navigation. One key question I’m struggling with is where to place links to my product pages.

Should I add product pages (e.g., Custom Packaging, Mailer Boxes) to the header for immediate visibility or would it be better to include them in the footer, keeping the header simpler?

I’m looking for advice on:

  1. How header placement might impact user experience and SEO.
  2. Whether footer placement still provides good visibility for visitors and search engines.
  3. The best practices for balancing usability and a clean design.

I’d greatly appreciate any insights or experiences you’ve had with similar decisions in Magento. Looking forward to your suggestions!

Thanks in advance

Place key product pages like "Custom Packaging" in the header for better visibility and SEO, as users and search engines prioritize these links. The footer works best for secondary links like FAQs or policies.

To balance usability, use a clean dropdown menu in the header and repeat product links in the footer for accessibility. This keeps navigation simple and effective, especially for Magento sites.

Re: Best Placement for Product Pages Header or Footer?

For your Magento website, it's generally best to place product page links in both the header and footer for optimized user experience and SEO. The header is ideal for immediate visibility, allowing users to easily find key products like "Custom Packaging" or "Mailer Boxes." This placement can enhance navigation and engagement, particularly for high-priority items. The footer, while less prominent, can still provide good visibility, especially for secondary or less-urgent links. SEO-wise, placing important product pages in the header helps with search engine crawling and indexing, but ensuring a clean, organized design is key for usability. Balancing simplicity in the header with strategic footer links creates a user-friendly, SEO-optimized layout.
