Good morning all.
I currently have a small business with an online shop - https://www.bikerstoolbox.co.uk/
Whilst it is only a small business, we have a lot of products. In a past life I was a graphic designer and did some basic web design using DreamWeaver, before it got too complicated. I also used Flash to create animations. My brain isn't really wired up for coding, though I did manage reasonably basic HTML.
I still have the Adobe Creative Cloud on subscription as I need it mainly for Illustrator, Acrobat and Photoshop.
I have been using SellerDeck, formally Actinic and designed the look of my site using Dreamweaver about ten years ago. I have never been mad about Sellerdeck due to its inflexibility. I did once make a very basic online shop for someone else, who was too tight to buy SD, in WordPress using a third party plug in. It worked OK but was nowhere near powerful enough to be even considered for my business. Another problem is that so far, due to the current setup, I am unable to shift the site from a shared hosting with Hostgator to my VPS on 1&1 Ionos. i have paid money to a chap to move it, but possibly something to do with PayPal he tells me that it can't be moved until SD make another update to the software.
My site has taken an enormous amount of time to get where it is now and in fairness to SD does get itself found by Google. I do almost no paid advertising so pretty much all our customers come from organic searches.
The million pound question is - Would Magento be a viable alternative and would it be able to import all the products from my current site?
Despite the size of the site, money is very tight and I haven't actually been able to take a wage from the business, as yet, though we do have quite a bit of stock, much of which is pretty specialist stuff.
Cheers
Ralph
Nice,
If you want to know more Magento, take a tour the blog site of Landofcoder.
