Making a transition from Magento 1 to 2 

Since I uploaded a template monster theme in CPanel (app, design, frontend...) I can only see the preview theme in Magento admin. How i can display this new theme (template) as my new one? and from where should I change the code to change the images and text? (Cpanel admin files in Web?). I'm a bit lost.

I use windows and I have read that one must run 2 php commands in ssh (can I do it from putty and which file should I be calling?)
