Hi @JoshuaSWarren,
Thanks for your availability to answer our questions.
I have been involved in the Magento Association since it was announced last year at Magento Imagine and also as part of the Founding Board of Directors.
That being said, now I have the opportunity to follow the progress that the Board of Directors is making and I can hear about the latest news from the announcements that are made in the Magento Association blog. As a Founding Task Force member, I know the direction that we are going but the community doesn't know the plan that will be in place for the Magento Association. For that reason, I understand the question that @fschmengler and also other community members have regarding the current activities and what is coming next.
In my mind as a developer, I think about this initial stage of the Magento Association as the process when a company is working on the next big release of a software product.
A company can wait to share information about the release until the final version is available for the customers, or can share news about what is coming in advance to inform, generate engagement and expectation.
As I said before, it is too early and it's been a month since the Board of Directors started working, however the questions that I have are related to how communication will be once the final strategic plan is defined and approved.
These are my questions:
Should the expectation be to receive the news on a recurring basis? (for example, at the end of each month) I know it is too early in the process but this would keep the community engaged and excited about the progress that is made and also aware of what is coming next. A list with the progress that was made, what is next and questions for feedback from the community would be enough. But I think it would make a difference.
Is the plan to share the goals, objectives and action items with the community? This was one of the items that were pending to be defined by the Founding Task Force and the decision was to allow the Board of Directors to decide the information that was going to be shared with the community. I don't consider that information as specific as objectives and action items should be shared, but it would be great to communicate what is planned to be accomplished in each area in terms of goals.
That's all I have for now. Thanks for the hard work that you are doing in this initial phase of the Magento Association.
Gabriel
