Magento for Cars Spare Parts?

Hello,

The main special need I have here is a relationship between each item and a set of categories (and sub-categories).

All (or most) of items will have a list of compatible vehicles.

Vehicles are defined in categories as YEAR/MAKE/MODEL/TRIM

And each item has to map to a category (and its sub-categories) or simply, fits all. 

Is this reasonably-easy doable with Magento? 

Not much of products, less than 1K, but this feature is kind of backbone to the website.

I saw only one old thread mentioning the same use and unforgettably he was complaining

@ahassoun Not getting much about your needs, if you elaborate your requirement then would be easier to answer your question. Yes, you can assign each item to category and sub-categories. However, you can also use product attributes for each attribute.

Each item will be assigned to a set of categories and sub-categories

For example, a particular part (item) will be compatible with a group of categories (MAKE: GMC, Choverlete, Lexus, etc) and sub-categories of each category (Sierra, Silverado, LX, etc)

I have checked 2 other examples of websites selling car parts and accessories (with the exact same mapping/relations) and both of them are using Magento.. so I guess the answer to my question is yes, Magento can do it.
