Magento redirests to a strange folder, can't install

Ok, after I extracted the Magento ZIP,  I moved the files to the root of the folder.

Now, it redirects here:

midmographics.com/midmogriphics/index.php/install/

The folder "midmogriphics" doesn't exist.

Then this is the message that is displayed:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Apache Server at midmographics.com Port 80

I know that it's a setting somewhere, but I can't find it.  What am I missing?

Hi guy,

could you look in the CPanel and see if subdomain redirection is set up?

Re: Magento redirests to a strange folder, can't install

I have the same issue. Checked redirection... there is none.

I did some experimenting and have figured out how to get around the issue... at least the install.

I assume you're hosting with Godaddy with multiple domains running under a Primary domain. The installation can be started by using the primary domain then subdomain in the url: primary-domain.com/subdomain.com/.

I did this and the installation page appeared... it's magic Smiley Happy

Unfortunately, in the above scenario, completing the installation will require using the primary domain url/ subdomain url for access to both the frontend and backend. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a unique url for a site.
