Backend loads extremly slow

All of the sudden the backend of our magento 1 shop is hard to reach, loggin and change tabs within the backend takes minutes. 

No changes have been made in the last weeks. I already worked on optimizing server response times and just started checking every extension( turning off) to see if the problem lies there. 

Any suggestions on what else could be the problem? And how to fix it?

Also the magenot connect manger looks diffrent. 

The page loads just as slow, looks like no css has been used at all

@rick_tapper try to flush cache and make re-indexing once and also compress css and js from the admin.

Already flushed cache and reindexed before posting here

Hello @rick_tapper 

Are you using latest version or installed all the security patches?

Did you try clearing all the logs, reports, session folders, something increased your server space too much.

Try clearing log tables from database by running SQL query.

Any extension recently installed in case.

Ask hosting guys once for the reason if there is something due to server.

This seems to be helping but slightly 

I have found that while loading backend pages that response headers expire somewhere in 1981. These files are the ones taking over a minute to get TTFB

Storage is available. 

Just realized that the expired response header is a short fix to disable chacing for a the pages
