Magento Connect 403 Forbidden Nginx

Good morning all,

I have since taken over our website from the dev firm who never helped us in anyway, and I've since noticed they deleted the downloader folder.

When I go to config> Magento Connect Manager I get a 403 Forbidden nginx error.

Can anyone help me get Connect Manager back for me? I've since downloaded 1.9.3.3 zip file from Magento website and uploaded the downloader folder. However it still won't work.

Re: Magento Connect 403 Forbidden Nginx

It is "best-practice" to delete the downloader folder (particularly from production) as it's an attack vector for store hackers.

You may be able to use the command line "./mage" tool to install extensions (http://webshopapps.com/blog/2011/08/installing-community-extensions-via-command-line-ssh/). This can be used for free extensions and when installing from package file. Alternatively most extensions can be downloaded, unzipped and installed manually by copying files into place.
