How to create horizontal navigation menu in Magento 1?

It is by default in Magento.
Just add categories and you will see the menu in horizontal.
Make sure you are adding categories under default.
So subcategories of default category.

I agree with @theMageComp, this is default feature of magento, when you add more categories/ subcategories then will show horizontal menu.

If you have any specific design for mega menu, then you can override the base/default/template/page/html/topmenu.phtml
with your custom theme_package.

app/design/frontend/your_package/your_template/template/page/html/topmenu.phtml

I agree with @theMageComp , it is the default feature of magento.

If you are new to magento you can take help from the below link to create categories.

Remeber to re-index after creating categories.For this you can use below command.

php bin/magento indexer:reindex

@bellaawam7cc37 you can create a cms page and link it in the main menu through widget.
