How can I remove all image placeholders from product?

We sell only downloadable pdf products that do not have any images associated with them. However, I can't find a way to remove the obnoxious placeholders that appear on every product page, taking up valuable space. I tried uploading a 1x1.gif to replace the images, but the empty space still expands to fill half the product screen.

Hi,

You will not be able to remove all placeholders as images.

You cna take out images section from your template.

If it about product page you can open media.phtml file at the app/design/frontend/{theme}/{package}/template/catalog/product/view/media.phtml

Over there you can remove <img tags for images and all related html for it. This file generate main and additional images for the product page.
