Promotions by catalog price

Hello to everyone , 

I'm new in this forum so I'm sorry if i I will make some errors in the posting . Well , I have a question for you . I need to configure a Promotion ( by catalog prices ) that has to be applied to a speific product category ( and all relative subcategories ) . I have some products marked in more of one subcategories ( of the same parent category ) , so I would like to know if applying promotional discount ,  to these products is applied a double discount .

You can use either of the following ways for your requirements:
Shopping cart price rule. (set apply further rule to "No")

or

Set Special price for the product.

thank you for the answer . However I will ty to explain better  with the following example .

I have one promotion applied to a category and its two subcategories . One of my products is marked in both of two subcategories . My dubt is  : My promotion , that will be applied to each subcategory , will apply a double discount on this product , that belongs to these both subcategories ? 

I hope to have been clearer .

Hi @Magenz

It applies to only one discount if you create only 1 rule for the these 3 categories. Means you are mensioning all categories in to one single rule.
