While trying to patch magento, which I have done a few times now with prior patches successfully, I encountered an issue with this latest patch.

So my first move is to go look at the .rej files it creates which I assume declare what the disconnects are. However the file isn't there. Which led me to think possibly the folder doesn't have write access, but it does. So I am confused as to what could be going wrong, any ideas?
Magento Version: CE 1.9.0.1
Patch: PATCH_SUPEE-6285_CE_1.9.1.1_v1-2015-07-07-09-03-34.sh
Also; It is stated with the patch that you must first implement SUPEE-5994 to ensure SUPEE-6285 works properly, which I have already done.
EDIT: Turns out at some point, I deleted the /modern/ folder when it wasn't being used. Replacing that removed the cart.phtml issue, however the noItems.phtml issue still persists.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Ok I got it to work,
I took noitems.phtml from my test site that is running latest version of Magento, replaced it on my site, ran the patch and it worked.
I then replaced the noitems.phtml file back. - My file has been changed.
this article clued me in -
http://codingbasics.net/bash-hunk-failed/
I am getting same -
patching file app/design/frontend/base/default/template/checkout/cart/noItems.phtml Hunk #1 FAILED at 31.
Me too
app/design/frontend/base/default/template/checkout/cart/noItems.phtml Hunk #1 FAILED at 31. 1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file app/design/frontend/base/default/template/checkout/cart/noItems.phtml.rej
Hi all, have you made sure patches SUPEE-5344 and SUPEE-5994 were installed before attempting to install SUPEE-6285?
Yes ma'am, both patches are confirmed installed prior to attempting to install this patch.
For me, yes I've installed SUPEE-5994 first, wich installed successfully. But I didn't installed SUPEE-5344, I have magento 1.9.1.1 so it shouldn't be require right ?
Correct @Chriswebdes, 1.9.1.1 includes SUPEE-5344. As a side note, if you're on CE you can update to 1.9.2 which contains all three patches: 5344, 5994 and 6285.
Well, it's much more complicated to do an upgrade for me right now, i would prefer patched it quicly for now.
This is a strange error, i keep looking but I can't understand why it comes up, and a lot of people seems to have the same issue
And yes, i'm on CE if that could help troubleshooting the issue
I tried the following :
Replace the current (1.9.1.1) noItems.phtml with the noItems.phtml of the 1.9.2 version.
Then, I execute the patch again, here's what I get :
patching file app/design/frontend/base/default/template/checkout/cart/noItems.phtml Reversed (or previously applied) patch detected! Assume -R? [n] Apply anyway? [n] Skipping patch. 1 out of 1 hunk ignored -- saving rejects to file app/design/frontend/base/default/template/checkout/cart/noItems.phtml.rej
Meaning : the patch detect that the content of noItems.phtml i've been updated with the right content (content found in the patch file).
There is no FAILED anymore, but the mention ignored !
Does it solved it then..?
Yep I was already updated and check my logs to make double sure.
My noitems.phtml, is modified on my site. So I changed the patch file to match what I have on the site and still didnt work.
yes I know the core files shouldnt be changed I inherieted this website... ya me!
