Configurable swatches system.log

My system.log file is gigantic repeatedly filled with the same error. 

2015-08-20T17:14:30+00:00 CRIT (2): Not valid template file:frontend/base/default/template/configurableswatches/catalog/product/list/swatches.phtml

the log file is so huge it will not open so i've had to rename the system.log file to system.log-old.

the file keeps growing and growing like the move THE BLOB! 

what could be causing this and how do i stop it from resulting in 16272.28MB  file?

You need to make sure that the file frontend/base/default/template/configurableswatches/catalog/product/list/swatches.phtml exists in your file system.

If it doesn't exist then you'll need to re-download magento and copy it from there - that should solve your error.

I will do that.

my question is now. why would it not be there? I would not have noticed if had not looked at my system log file. 

is it possible that updating to 1.9.2.1 could have caused it to go away? or was it even there in the first place?
