Re: Google Analytics Ecommerce Setup

Hi vendorskha,

Setting up Google Analytics for your Magento eCommerce website is essential for tracking and understanding your site's performance. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for your Magento store:

Step 1: Create a Google Analytics 4 Property

  1. Sign in to Google Analytics:

  2. Create a New GA4 Property:

    • Click on the "Admin" gear icon at the bottom left.
    • In the "Account" column, select the account in which you want to create the property.
    • In the "Property" column, click "Create Property."
    • Enter the property name, select your reporting time zone, and currency. Click "Next."
    • Fill in your business information and click "Create."
  3. Get Your GA4 Measurement ID:

    • After creating the property, go to "Data Streams" under the property column.
    • Click on "Web" and enter your website URL and stream name.
    • Click "Create Stream" and note down your Measurement ID (format: G-XXXXXXXXXX).

Step 2: Add GA4 to Your Magento Store

  1. Using Google Tag Manager (Recommended):

    • Create a Google Tag Manager Account: If you don't have one, create a GTM account and container.
    • Add GTM Code to Magento: Go to your Magento Admin Panel -> Content -> Configuration -> Edit the theme you are using. In the HTML Head section, add your GTM container code.
    • Create a GA4 Configuration Tag: In GTM, create a new tag of type "GA4 Configuration" and enter your Measurement ID. This tag should be triggered on all pages.
    • Publish Your Container: Once the tag is set up, publish your GTM container.
  2. Direct Implementation (if not using GTM):

    • Edit Header Template: Access your Magento theme’s header template file (header.phtml) and add the GA4 global site tag (gtag.js) snippet provided by Google Analytics.
    • Insert the Measurement ID: Replace the placeholder in the snippet with your GA4 Measurement ID.
    • Deploy Changes: Save and deploy the changes in Magento.
    html
    Copiar código
    <!-- Global site tag (gtag.js) - Google Analytics --> <script async src="https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js?id=YOUR_MEASUREMENT_ID"></script> <script> window.dataLayer = window.dataLayer || []; function gtag(){dataLayer.push(arguments);} gtag('js', new Date()); gtag('config', 'YOUR_MEASUREMENT_ID'); </script>

Step 3: Enable eCommerce Tracking

  1. Enable eCommerce in GA4:

    • In your GA4 property, go to "Events" under the property column.
    • Click on "Manage events" and enable "Enhanced eCommerce" tracking.
  2. Implement eCommerce Tracking in Magento:

    • Magento does not natively support GA4 eCommerce tracking out of the box. You might need to use extensions or custom code to push eCommerce data to GA4.
    • Consider using a Magento extension that supports GA4 eCommerce tracking or custom implementation via GTM.
