Magento connect manager bug or something else?

I tried installing a theme by using Magento connect; I am using version 1.9.3.1.

This is what error I am getting; I understand you can do this manually, but I was wondering what this could be? bug?

this is the error I am getting:

exception during cache and session cleaning

I tried removing /var/cache and nothing still an issue

No I haven't; I am not going to use Magento connect manager anyway most likely. I was curious on why I would get this error and where to look.
