Site down because of symlink setting change?

I disallowed symlinks in Magento configuration because they say it's a security risk to use them. After that the whole site went down. It's just loading and loading but not responding. Same situation with admin area. 

Is there any way to allow symlinks again without admin panel? As I said the admin is not working either anymore. I tried to google how to change setting in database but couldn't find a way. I don't have phpmyadmin but can execute mysql commands via ssh.

Okay I succeed to change allow_symlink value in database's core_config_data table from 0 to 1 but page is still down. It is just loading, loading, loading but won't work...Any ideas what could be the problem?

Resolved after booting whole server. Don't know really what's the main reason was.
