Template files cannot see Block Template classes anymore in CE 1.9.2.2

For some reason in CE 1.9.2.2 cannot seem to access classes associated with block template classes from extensions which I have been using with previous versions of Magento. I have whitelisted associated block types but still displays a blank sidebar.

The backend works okay, but the frontend is blank. Annoyingly, no error messages are returned.

Please advice.
