quick search brings up all products

Hi, we're about to go live with our site http://carla.sg-host.com/index.php/

However we have noticed a problem with the quick search at the top. It appears to bring up all products no mater how precise the search is. Even a direct product sku now brings up all products. We're not sure how long this has been happening but it was working when we started development. The advanced search works no problem at all.

Any suggestions will be welcome.

I assume that you're meaning the search bar in your shop next to the logo ?

Did you do a complete re-index, especially the search indexes under System > Indexmanagement ??

You could try to change the "like" to "full text" or "combine"..

But I would recommend you to invest in a search module/extension, with search dropdown functionality, like Solr or Sphinx. 

A great extension could be - Sphinx search from Mirasvit:

But be sure to clear with your hosting, that they support Sphinx / Solr before buying, there could also be an additional cost in setting up the search servers.
