Speed difference between development and production?

Hi all. I wonder if you have measured the performance differnce between magento development and production mode, speaking about CE 2.1.5 version. I know this depends on many things (site content, more static or more php, web server, etc.) but still can you give me your estimate. I wonder we are talking about 5% or 50% difference. Please share your experience, thanks.

I've found out an extensive benchmark on the web and it is roughly 100% faster. This forum doesn't allow me to post the link but do a google search for:amasty blog Magento 1 vs Magento 2 performance

Well I'm more interested in version 2.1 because php7 is also faster. What are your experiences? Please share.

For development mode Yes Speed is one factor along with there are others like deburring exceptions. On productions its never shown on the screen but recorded in exception log and the page never breaks. Where as on Development mode if there is an exception then its shown directly on the screen.
