Magento2.2.5 - Language switch redirects to startpage

Hi dear community

I'm experiencing a language switch problem:
When I change the language (storeview) it changes to the right language, but it also lands on the homepage. But it's a must to stay on the same page! The customer shouldn't need to search a product again.

The issue was already opened here:

The problem is, the issue got closed because the dev thinks its duplicated with the issue here:
https://github.com/magento/magento2/issues/14674

But, it's a different issue!
Anyways, it seems the issue will never get fixed, because the dev closed the issue.
So I need to ask here: Has someone a Fix?

It's a minor issue for me.

Please check your site URL once that should be end with store code i.e.

www.example.com/en/

In this "en" is store code.

That will be helpful, let me know if still face any issue.
