Task "Update attributes for selected products have been scheduled for update. "Stuck in Pending"

I have been to posts on this subject about product updates being stuck in "Pending" but I don't understand how to do the following that I see must be done.
Can someone please help point me in the right direction?

Is there a tutorial for running the following on our server? 

 

php bin/magento cron:run

Please check indexer status in admin System -> Tools -> index. The message might be shown due to any recent bulk update.

Running cron command and re-indexing command fixed this issue for me

php bin/magento cron:run
