cant cancel order

In my local environment i can canel pending orders but in the dev enviroment it gives an error 500 what can be the problem? some configuration on the dev backoffice that is differente than mine?

Did you check Magento system.log and exception.log files? You may see error messages.

The buyer has approximately thirty minutes to cancel an order they have placed. Orders that have already been shipped cannot be canceled. If a cancellation request is submitted at this point, the seller should contact the buyer and inform him that the item has already been shipped.
