Does subcategory include its parent

Hello,

assuming my category tree is the following:

ROOT
-- A1

---- A1.1
--- A2

when I am assigning an category to a product do I have to assign both parent and subcategories or is the subcategorie ok?

So for example I want my product to be available on categories A1 and A1.1.

Do I have to add my item to categories A1 and A1.1 or is it enough to just add it to A1.1?

Hi, you can add the prodcut to the subcategory but you'll neeed to set the "Is anchor" option to "Yes" in the parent category.
