Error when trying to install Magento 1 xx (and 2xx)

Hi I'm getting this page when I am trying to install Magento via FTP.

I am also getting the same error when attempting an install via C panel.

I have tried a fresh download, and created new databases, but I keep getting this page

I can see the image, so not sure what is wrong.

I have however managed to get Magento2 installed with a bit of manipulation and some help from Hostgator.

@GrahamWDid you check the log? In your screenshot if shows a number. You can go to Magento root directory then var/report. Look for the latest file or a file with the number appears on error screen. This will guide you to resolve your problem.

Seems like definitely an issue with Database.

Please share error code which is displayed on your screen image. Go to your var/report folder & find error code number and open it. This will be helpful for fixing your issue
