Minimum Magento Version Requirements for Magento V1.x SOAP V2

Please provide the minimum version requirements to successfully use  Magento V1.x SOAP V2

Is Magento version 1.7.0.2    too old ?

I'm asking because I am getting inconsistent results with the API with a client that has that version.
