Unfortunately the Google API under Stores->Configuration->Sales->Google API is not working. Where exactly I have to place the code snippet for it?

Was this problem ever solved? I can not find much about it. I'm on 2.2.7 and the Adwords tracking code is not shown. Analytics works. I tried https://docs.magento.com/m2/ce/user_guide/marketing/google-adwords.html. Any help is much appreciated.

Are you using a custom theme?
Can you check if the error still persists if you try Luma as your storefront theme?
